Frequently asked questions

Plain answers for working tradespeople.

Good question — here's the straight path, one step at a time:

  1. Figure out where you stand. Are you brand new, an apprentice partway through, or experienced but never got the paper? That tells you your starting level.
  2. Choose your trade. Head to Courses and pick the trade you're working in (or the one you want to get into).
  3. Enroll in the correct year level. New? Start at Year 1. Already on the job? Jump to the level that matches what you know. You only buy the level you need.
  4. Work through the chapters and pass the quizzes. Each level is broken into chapters with short lessons and a quiz at the end of each. Pass the quiz to move on.
  5. Track your progress and hours. Your dashboard shows what you've finished and what's left, so you always know where you are.
  6. Use the practice exams to confirm you're ready. Before you sit the real thing, run the practice exams until you're comfortable. See Red Seal Exam Prep.
  7. Write your provincial or Red Seal exam. When you're scoring well on practice exams, book the real exam through your provincial authority.
  8. Move up. Once you pass, start the next year level — or add the business & estimating track if you want to move toward running your own work. See pricing and the estimating toolkit.

Take it one level at a time — that's how the trade gets learned. You've got this.
